The Galion Theatre

The former movie theatre known as, “THE GALION” was built in 1949. In 1993 it was sold to “THE GALION COMMUNITY THEATRE GROUP”. A variety of productions make their way to this stage throughout the year. The building is also rented for private functions.

Brownella Cottage

BROWNELLA COTTAGE, the home of Episcopal Bishop William Scranton Brown, was built in 1887 at a cost of $6,500. The cottage stood empty for 40 years after the death of the Bishop. In 1979 it was given to the Galion Historical Society and presently serves as their headquarters/museum.

Veteran’s Memorial At Heise Park

The VETERANS MEMORIAL in Heise Park was dedicated on May 18, 2002. The memorial is in honor of men and women from the Galion area who have served in our armed forces.

The GALION PUBLIC LIBRARY was built in 1904. The money to build this beautiful Classical Ionic Design building was provided by Andrew Carneige.

This structure was built around 1822 as a home, then became the original “GALION PUBLIC LIBRARY & READING ROOM”.

The Big Four Depot

The “BIG FOUR DEPOT” was built in 1900 and purchased by the city of Galion in 2000. In the railroads' hey-day, 32 passenger and mail trains came through Galion on an average day. Presidential candidates Al Smith (1928), Franklin D. Roosevelt (1932), and Dwight D. Eisenhower and Richard Nixon (1959) presented their “platform speeches” at the depot.
